Vannelli, emotions in Palmi
The Calabria Daily 18/08/2000

Palmi – Approximately two thousand people attended Gino Vannelli’s concert at the Municipal Stadium in Palmi last night.
It was the Italian-Canadian singer’s first time performing in Calabria, an event celebrated under the auspices of a sky illuminated by an almost mystical full moon, with great intensity and emotion from the audience, who also came from other regions.
For nearly thirty years, starting in the early 1970s, Vannelli has been the leading global ambassador for a style of music that is a pure expression of elegance and stylistic perfection. His songs are caresses to the heart, punctuated by a voice that envelops and tickles the senses, as his entrance onto the stage at the Palmi stadium, dressed in his trademark all-black outfit that gives him a certain air of dark romance, underscores.
Vannelli bids farewell to his audience, seducing them with “Crazy Life,” a timeless song born in 1973 that still retains the same expressive power today; as do his voice and the masterful use of falsetto that has become his trademark, capable of making us dream, transporting the mind to nocturnal, metropolitan suggestions.
And before leading us through the sonic paths that make up one of the most luxuriant gardens of pop, he greets us in a slightly halting Italian, proudly showing his Italian origins: “I was born in Toronto, but my ancestors were from Campobasso!”
“Wild Horses”, “Living inside myself”, “Black Cars”, “Brother to Brother” are the songs from the repertoire he uses, accompanied by a band of truly exceptional musicians perfectly in tune with each other. Above all the telluric drummer Paul Brochu, who gave the arrangements continuous relaunches and breathtaking accelerations: <In addition to making them play, I make the musicians of my band work in my garden, and they cook for me>.
This is what Gino Vannelli surprisingly declared during the press conference, thus confirming once again his reputation as a bizarre and domineering star. The musical marathon of the heart comes to an end with “I just Wanna Stop”, a song that allowed him to cross the boundaries of the 70s,amidst enthusiastic cheers from the fans.
The organization put together by Ibis Management worked. Massimiliano Faraone speaks for everyone
The artist’s compliments and the good impression repay all the sacrifices made so far and the almost total indifference of the institutions
